I have heard rumours that the land grab is starting to rear its head in the Arboleas area.

I was told that a certain builder was refusing to hand over the 10% of land due to the council in order for the houses to be legalised. This means that the owners will have to pay if they ever want their documents.

Has anybody out there got any information?

Carson, I have not heard that rumour but what I did hear the other day was that a certain builder in Arboleas has no money now to pay for the Escrituras and that the home owners will now have to pay that money out themselves albeit that it was suppose to be paid by the builder and that the legal costs etc were part of the package.

I also heard that the costs have now soured to over 15,000 euros which is a massive percentage increase in this day and age when the builder used to say it costed 10,000 euros 2 years ago!!

This is NOT land grab!!!! The town hall and builders are in dispute over the costs of infrastructure (TARMAC ROADS ETC)
All builders had to give 10% of their building land to the town hall for green areas, roads etc

Sorry Eric, but the Mayor himself has said that if the builders do not hand over the 10% then the owners will have to or their houses will never become legal.  My lawyer classes that as land grab.

I always thought LAND GRAB was where a developer wanted to build and so was able to legally buy land from householders at a very low price , if the home owners wanted to keep the land they had to pay stupid money to buy it back , they also had to pay towards the infrastructure which was often more than the price they were paid for their land so they lost the land and had to shell out ,for the developer its a win win situation . I understood the original law was to accommodate the building of public amenities or low cost housing , something for the community and the planners had to only agree the build for the developer to acquire the power to rob anyone they wished legally , a system that was abused and therefore given the derogatory term LAND GRAB , cant even remember now what the correct term for it is .

The less he spoke the more he heard
Thats what made him such a wise old bird .
