Any one any idea why is my clock on windows XP is not keeping time now .Every day its between 10 and 20 minuites behind . I reset it every day , i have tried manual and the option to link it to the internet but nothing makes it keep time now . 3 years its worked perfectly , cant even roll back to an earlier time on system restore , says cannot be done to any of the system checkpoints .

Sounds like the battery on the motherboard has gone flat. Depends on the manufacturer but they often use a CR2032 battery. Worth a shot changing it before having to go for a more expensive option. BTW how are you resetting the time? If you are simply picking up the time from the internet, then you aren't changing the time on the system clock.

You could try setting it in the BIOS when you boot up the machine, just to make sure it's not Windows acting up. You'll normally see how to do this when you boot the machine and the first screen comes up (usually pressing the delete key before the windows loading screen comes up (or F11 if it's an HP computer))

If it still doesn't hold the time when you come back to it, then it's probably the battery.

Ahh, that's good then. I didn't think the Time server would be the culprit, but there you go.
